Hello, I’m Loren Assunção, and today I’d like to share with you about one of those unforgettable classroom moments that remind us how teaching is full of surprises.

While teaching English to first graders, I was showing them how to pronounce the word three.

I said:“To say three, put your tongue on your teeth.

Like this: THREEEE.”

Suddenly, one student raised their hand and said:

“Teacher, my tooth fell out.”

Another quickly joined in:

“Mine too.”

And then a third voice added:

“I don’t have teeth either.”

At that point, I laughed and told them:

“Okay then, guys, just put your tongue on your gums!”

It’s moments like these that remind me why the classroom is such a unique space - full of humor, spontaneity, and little lessons that go far beyond the textbook.
