Hello, I'm Loren Assunção, and today I'd like to share with you a creative classroom idea that will spark imagination and make your students fall in love with storytelling — Short Spooky Stories.
This Halloween-inspired game combines language learning, creativity, and laughter in a way that feels natural and fun for students of all ages.

What is the “Short Spooky Stories” game?
The idea is simple — students draw and write to do the continuation of the story.
I provided 2 stories and some cards to active their creativity!
Read the story to them or print it (I made for my year one so you can adapt it)
1. Witch Willow’s Wobbly Potion
Main Character: Witch Willow (a clumsy little witch)
Theme: A potion gone wrong
Story Summary:
Witch Willow tries to make a magic potion.
She adds a frog and some shiny stars.
The potion starts to bubble and pop!
Finally, it explodes and turns everything purple!
Suggested Vocabulary: potion, frog, stars, bubble, purple
Sequence Words: First – Then – Next – Finally

2. Pumpkin Pete and the Missing Candle
Main Character: Pumpkin Pete (a talking pumpkin)
Theme: A funny mystery
Story Summary:
Pumpkin Pete can’t find his candle.
He looks under the table and behind the chair.
Then, a little cat finds it inside a shoe!
Finally, Pete glows bright again and says, “Thank you!”
Suggested Vocabulary: candle, cat, chair, shoe, bright

Student's mission? Create a *short, spooky, and funny* story in English using both elements. And then they can write here:
This activity works perfectly for vocabulary practice, sentence structure, and speaking confidence. You can use it as a warm-up, a Halloween event activity, or even as part of a creative writing lesson.
Other examples of short spooky stories thet you can work with your students:
The Witch and the Lost Hat
One night, a witch was flying across the forest when her hat flew away. She looked for it everywhere — until a cat found it and started wearing it!
The Friendly Ghost
A ghost wanted new friends, but everyone ran away. One day, he helped a little pumpkin cross the road. Since then, they’ve been best friends forever.
The Dancing Skeleton
A skeleton woke up at midnight and started to dance. The problem? He couldn’t stop! He danced until sunrise and finally fell asleep in his shoes.
