Why we should start writing by Hand again?

Hi, I'm teacher Loren, and teaching day by day I observe how students have difficulties to write nowadays. In today’s digital age, handwriting is often overlooked. But the benefits of writing by hand extend far beyond just putting pen to paper. Handwriting engages the brain in ways typing can’t, improving memory, creativity, and even emotional expression.

If you’ve stopped writing by hand, here are some easy steps to start again:

  1. Keep a Notebook Handy – Carry a small notebook to jot down thoughts, ideas, or to-do lists instead of relying on your phone.

  2. Write by Hand Daily – Whether it’s a few sentences or a paragraph, start by writing something every day—morning reflections, gratitude lists, or a simple note.

  3. Try Journaling – Writing about your day or feelings can improve mental clarity and keep your handwriting sharp.

  4. Send a Handwritten Note – Write letters or thank-you notes to friends and family. It's a thoughtful way to reconnect and stand out.

  5. Doodle & Sketch – Adding doodles alongside your notes can enhance memory retention and spark creativity.

  6. Slow Down & Enjoy It – Take your time with the process. Writing by hand forces you to focus and connect with your thoughts more deeply.

Handwriting is not just a skill—it’s a way to improve cognitive functions, boost creativity, and create personal connections. So, grab a pen, start writing, and enjoy the many benefits it brings!

See ya!

Loren.
